Dr. Joann M. Smith is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

A graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Dr. Smith completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. She began practicing at Laurel Women's Medical Group in Bloomfield Hills, MI in 1992.

Dr. Smith is board certified, and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is a member of the Michigan State Medical Society and Oakland County Medical Society. She also serves on the board of directors of the Oakland County Medical Society.

She is an attending physician at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where she also serves as a member of the Obstetrical Quality Assurance Committee and the Chairman's Advisory Committee in the Department of OB/GYN.

Dr. Smith was voted one of Metro Detroit's Best Doctors 2011 by Stlyeline Magazine, a 2011 Detroit Super Doctor, 2010 Most Compassionate Doctor, and the 2011 Patients' Choice Award..
